Just look at what happened to Fred Thompson. When he jumped into the presidential race, people didn’t know much about him and he was immediately at the top of the polls. Then as more people learned about him, his numbers steadily fell.
Right now Palin is popular because she made one speech (which she didn’t even write). Among independents her numbers are quite good. But once more people learn that she opposes abortion even in cases of **** and incest, that she wants creationism taught in public schools, that she’s obsessed with oil drilling, that she doesn’t think humans are causing global warming, that she has zero national and foreign policy experience, knows nothing about Iraq, etc., her numbers will steadily fall, just like Fred Thompson’s.
