Make Many Friends With A Social Media Network

March 27th, 2010
Comments Off

The concept of social media network is relatively new. It only started to grow in usage in 2006. Since that time there have been some very large venues grow that include Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. Social media networks can be used for both business and pleasure.

Most of the social media websites require that you complete some sort of sign up process to become a part of the site. Most of the sites do not charge to join. They will want to know your age or year of birth to see if you need parental permission to join. You may be able to use an alias or be required to use your real name, according to the site’s policies

Once you have signed up, you will be able to send friend requests on the site. If a person accepts your friend request, you will be able to read his or her posts and they can read yours. There are often opportunities to add your photographs or video recordings to the site.

You need to be aware that one post you make may be read by thousands of people, even if you only have a relatively short friend list. Each posting you make is not only visible on your friend’s pages, but also when they make a comment, it is visible on all of their friends pages. If you post a comment on a friend’s posting, your comment is visible on all their friends pages and on the pages of the friends of every person that comments on the same post.

As you can see, social media can be a very powerful tool that is used for your benefit or harm. If you make good posts that are seen by thousands of people, that can be very good. If you are careful in what you say, you can build a good reputation for yourself and may find many followers. However, if you are not careful, then you may find that former friends block you from posting comments on their posts. You can not only make friends quickly, you can also lose them just as quickly.

Social media networks are being used by network marketers to build followers. Their social media friends then can be their new clients in what they are trying to market. If the media is used with care, you can develop loyal followers that may become loyal customers. Wise marketers do not try to rush friends into becoming clients in order to avoid the appearance of another person with a spam message.

Make sure that you follow the rules of the social media network, or you may find your page has been shut down and that you are blocked from using the site.

The Changes To The Internet Via Social Bookmarks

March 20th, 2010
Comments Off

A quiet evolution of the Internet has been going on for quite a few years. It has now become more visible and has taken on a the name of Web 2. 0. When people talk about Web 2. 0, they are referring to this evolutionary step that has been started by people who have become empowered by the ability to make independent decisions about how they find things and communicate using social networks and the Internet.

Social bookmarking impacts all communication and information that takes place on the Internet in some ways. This method allows an individual to bookmark information that they find of interest in a public folder that is “tagged” and available for the public in their social networks to access if they are looking for the topic. Using this method, “rankings” become obscured and unnecessary as individuals are doing searches that are “tagged” with the topic specifically related to their needs and interests.

Many people are attaching links and RSS feeds to their websites and blogs so that they can alert their readers to new information on a regular basis through their social networking site. These sites include Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, etc. However, there are some issues when a person is marketing using social networking sites for information retrieval and exchange that should be considered.

This makes the social media sites vulnerable to spamming and hacking. The sites are continually upgrading and improving their security effort to block spam advertising and messages from business who attempt to bookmark themselves using RSS feeds and continuous self-searches.

A website owner considering using social networking as a marketing tool will need to create a steady and consistent flow of quality information that a wide audience will be interested in reading. In addition, it is important to remember that spam advertisers are quickly blocked from a person’s bookmarks and when the URL has been blocked by a customer on one device, it is blocked from all of that customer’s devices.

Language plays an important role in social bookmarking. Many SEO work with the standardized protocols of the large directory search engines when writing and advertising. The language used for bookmarking on social networks is different. For instance a business that sells desks may write a profound article about roll-top desks. The bookmark or tag that it is saved in will be “roll top.” A person searching for “desks” will not find that business. Many people bookmark using a shorthand method that catches on.

It will be important prior to using social networking as a marketing tool that a person take time to learn the semantics of the bookmarking structure. The bookmarks are organized by the “tag” that is associated to that article or RSS. It may not lead to the website if the correct language is not used in the title of the article or RSS feed.

Social network optimization tools are different than search engine optimization tools. It is important to understand the distinctions and work within the framework and structure, of each. Using both methods effectively will allow a person to effectively use social bookmarking to increase their volume of traffic and their customer base. The potential of social bookmarking is clearly evident. The search engines will slowly evolve and catch up to the social networking language structure. Until that time, it is important to learn the languages of both to enhance growth in both areas.

Interactive Writing Experiments

March 5th, 2010
Comments Off

David Artsmith  -  Writing can be a lonely task. Whether you are a professional or an amateur, writing generally requires you to sit alone in a room, living halfway inside your head, and halfway on the paper before you. You don’t have any feedback, and inspiration, anything at all except what is inside of your head, and in the environment around you. You can of course have a friend look at your work when your done, but that is more of a review, and doesnt bring them into the real time creative process. Being creative is often an isolated process.

However new web 2.0 technologies are giving writers new tools to help expand their creativity and improve their craft, through interactive writing projects. Interactive fiction is not a terribly new concept. Aside from authors collaborating on books, the idea of interactive stories has been around for a long time. Originally they were stories written in tandem, with first one person adding a paragraph, then another expanding with a second paragraph, and so on.

These were sometimes open to social communities, but the more open they were, the more prone they were to spam and poor writing. Eventually most of these limited active threads to a few members, or a moderated community.

New technologies however are allowing writers to expand these ideas exponentially. With places like twitter, facebook, rolepages, and others, you can now take on character roles and write stories across a variety of media, including several written forms of communication. This can involve forums, chat rooms, profiles, walls, and bulletins, as well as videos, podcasts and pictures.

The general term for this sort of writing is role-play; a word which derives to some extent from the old dungeons and dragons board games that were popular in the eighties. However rather than a self indulgent chance to act out fantasy stories with your friends, this new style of roleplay is actually a form of fiction, which allows writers to finally break out of their own heads, and collaborate with others in a meaningful, and multi dimensional manner.

This can lead to vast improvements in a person's writing skills. When interacting with others, you can get feedback, as well as fresh ideas, from a whole community of like minded fellow writers. It is even an opportunity to bounce ideas off of one another in a safe place.

As technology increases, and people's ability to use it increases, we will see more and more leaps forward in the way people communicate. This may lead to an improvement in the general writing population, or it may give rise to an entirely new form of fiction altogether. It’s hard to say what the future holds.

Where to Get Social Media News

February 22nd, 2010
Comments Off

Even if some companies are being dragged kicking and screaming into the social networking world, they are busily gathering news about social media from wherever they can get it. Their customers are usually far ahead of them in knowing how to work with social networks, so they need to catch up, fast. Developing a social media strategy for staying relevant to users of their products and services might end up, one day, being a matter of survival itself. So whether they get their education from buttoned-down instructors or less traditional teachers is not all that important.

Among the ways these companies are finding out about the latest social networks is by participating in the Social Media Breakfast program. These breakfasts were founded by a man named Bryan Person, who talks about himself as a “social media evangelist” for LiveWorld, a company that helps companies publicize their brands via social networking.

The breakfasts generally take place on a monthly basis, and bring together media networking experts and enthusiasts with business people, to learn the most recent news and policies concerning social media, and discover how to put this new media to work for their places of business. There are quite a few other clubs and meetings similar to this that serve commercial clients.

The Mashable (www.mashable.com) website, though, is probably the best online resource available, and any corporation hunting for news about social media would do well to keep the site permanently bookmarked. It provides the most up to date news on social media in general, which is valuable in itself. But it also categorizes and highlights articles about the most important media sites or current trends, so people can find those easily. And it’s one of the sponsors of the Open Web Awards, with categories like Best Social Media Agency, Best Brand Use of Facebook, Best Online Video Web Series, and countless others.

Whether business and tech people read websites full of information and tips, or gather together from afar in one of the new social media conferences, there’s a whole new industry being created to provide news about social media. This brings corporate bigwigs into the same rooms as serious computer geeks they might not have given the time of day to in the past. In an entertaining turnaround, it’s the geeks who are telling the corporations how to run their business. And in a hitherto unheard of way, the companies are being dutiful pupils, and learning quickly.

The social media websites that immediately come to mind are some of the most popular sites today, like Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. Any avenue that allows people to socialize together without necessarily being in the same proximity is considered social networking. Find out more at the Social Media Resources site.

12 Places To Look When Searching For An MLM List

February 4th, 2010
Comments Off

There are quite a few internet sites which supply a multilevel promoting list of firms.

Wikipedia includes a small unbiased list of only a few of corporations and you may click on each of the links to receive a greater amoung of details about each business.

MLM Consultant offers rather an in depth list of MLM firms and is adjusted quarterly.

Consumer Fraud Reporting includes both an inventory of MLMs as well as an inventory of convicted MLM con affiliations.  Though this web site might be useful as a reference for what types of scams to avert, it isn’t the greatest one in terms of gaining a greater knowledge of multi-level selling and does not even get close to including all of the reputable MLM businesses around the planet.

Best MLM Opportunities provides an inventory of what Dr.Wurthen feels to be the top social marketing companies.  Clearly, you want to bear in mind that his report is going to be subjective.

MLM Rankings provides a fairly total multilevel marketing list and in addition grades every one of them on popularity.

MLM WatchDog claims to be the largest MLM – Network Marketing List and by the looks of it, they might be right!  Though the layout of the internet site is a little hard on the eyes, the content is of high quality and all of the contact details are listed for each MLM also.

Npros has another very comprehensive list and what is even better with this site is that you can search your MLM corporation by the class of the products/services supplied.  This is something that is pretty hard to get in an inventory of MLM firms.

Network Marketing Works provides a pleasant list of Multi Level Marketing companies along with some handy recommendation on the way to research them and get started with social marketing.

AllBusiness.com provides two lists: one is the top 50 established social marketing companies that have been present for no less than five years.  The 2nd list includes 40 start up MLM businesses that have not hit their five year mark yet.  While several may think you’ve more earning potential with a more modern business, you also need to be a bit extra wary with these.  They are the most probable to run in to trouble and not be able to get by.

Another subjective list comes from RyansHamus.com.  Though objectiveness is positive in a list, it may be useful to consider what somebody else has to say about certain corporations.

Nexera lists only a few internet marketing companies (those who have been in business for over 10 years) in addition also ranks them for varied other things including how well they rank in internet terms.

PassionFire.com is just a plain and simple list of Multi-level Marketing corporations.  The list is long but no further information about the companies is supplied.

There are thousands of multilevel selling businesses around the globe – and as you could imagine, not only 1 Multi Level Marketing list.  Hopefully these ideas can help you in your hunt for the right one!

Social Media Sites And Their Variety

January 16th, 2010
Comments Off

The many types of social media sites are byproducts of people all around the world developing an interest in the internet as a means to express themselves or connect with other people. Some of these purposes are exclusively about self-expression and learning about how other people live and act. Some fulfill some more career and romantic related ends, allowing people from around the world to connect and work with each other.

1) One way to write online and showcase one’s thoughts is to maintain a blog. Blogs are unique in that they are private individual thoughts that are published online without virtually any filter whatsoever. This allows a lot of factually incorrect content to make it onto the internet, but it has also heralded a major revolution in the media by increasing the scope of information type in global news. For example, during the U. S. War in Iraq, Iraqi bloggers were posting their experiences with the U. S. Military on the internet. Some blogs have even been used in court cases as evidence.

2) Digital content multimedia sites like Youtube allow users to produce and submit content that is entirely original. The content can be almost anything. Some users submit comedy sketches and skits, some report on the news, some just simply want to see their face on the screen in front of them. Regardless, the “Comment” feature on these sites allows users to know how users feel about the produced content, which facilitates a degree of customizable user-friendly and user-based consumer choice that is necessary on this type of site.

3) Some sites provide assistance in finding romance. These websites are unique in that they facilitate a conversation and connection between one user and another based on preferences. It is akin to being in a singles bar and having one of the people highlighted for a user that would be the likeliest person to have an easy connection with.

4) Some sites are focused less on romance and random relationships and more on creating a basis for professional contacts. Professional contacts are needed in a world in which entrepreneurship is becoming ever more frequent, which means that small businesses are constantly on the hunt for qualified people. Websites like LinkedIn help to facilitate the creation of that type of professional network.

5)”Forums” on the internet allow users to maintain a constant stream of thoughts that this both, essentially, remembered and held constant over time. Thus, new users can have access to the old content and continue the stream of thought. Before web “forums, ” there really was no similar venue for this type of discussion, the closest perhaps being the “letters to the editor” section of newspapers.

6) Some sites combine interests in developing networks with that of providing a public forum for self-expression. Perhaps more importantly though, Myspace opens a user up to their own self-expression and the elaborate self-expressions of tens of millions of other people.

The Variety Of Social Media Sites

January 16th, 2010

The various types of social media sites are a result of people all around the world taking an interest in reaching each other via the internet. What makes social media sites special is that they are premised on subscribers or “users” producing content for the sites. Thus, social media sites all have particular limitations on what users can do and place certain types of content restrictions, but the sites themselves would be nothing without user interactivity. This is distinct from a more standard type of website, which can serve it’s purpose merely be existing and providing a type of content without a degree of interactivity. There are various types of social media sites that have developed over time.

1) Blogs are one tool used by people to get their ideas to reach the rest of the world. Blogs are offered by virtually all of the major media outlets and are typically free, requiring payment only for those that request a high-degree of customization. Moreover, since most blogs exist while attached with a “comments” section, it is always possible to trigger a conversation on one’s ideas about the writing in the blog.

2) Digital content multimedia sites like Youtube allow users to produce and submit content that is entirely original. The content can be almost anything. This content can reach users all around the world and is fascinating because of the impact that some of this content has had on the world. For example, during the recent presidential election in Iran, there were massive protests (in the hundreds of thousands) that took place afterward, and no one would have seen them had these types of social media websites not existed. These protests were then supported by various people in countries all around the world.

3) Romantic relationships are also built over the internet. Some websites allow users to submit profiles, and then those profiles are then analyzed by a particular program that “matches” people up depending on the information in those initial profiles. Some have been heralded a major successes, helping to procure long-lasting and loving relationships.

4) Some sites link professionals up with each other, allowing them to show their resumes and create contacts needed for career advancement.

5) “Forums” are also useful in social media. Because all of the content is saved over time, new users are able to join the conversation within a forum at any point. Forums can be about any subjects and they are frequently administered by a particular site, and a topic for discussion is provided ahead of time. However, other than a small degree of oversight made present by a forum administrator, people can usually say whatever they want.

6) Some websites capture the essence of individual personalities and focus on showcasing these personalities by allowing significant amounts of user customization in their profiles (e.g., Myspace or Facebook).

December 24th, 2009

Do you have a social media approach for your business? Well in today’s day and age social media sites are the in thing and they are not going away. After browsing a few polls online, I came to the conclusion that the average person spends about 2 hours a day on social media websites. This is valuable time you could be marketing to these people.

With social media websites leading the way on the internet today, how could a business ignore their marketing potential? Some of the most visited sites on the internet are social media networking sites. Facebook is the number one social networking site on the internet. It ranks number two in most site traffic, just behind Google. Myspace and Twitter are also in the top twenty of most visited sites on the internet. How could one ignore the marketing potential on these popular websites?

How many social media networks should you join? Well the answer to that question only lies with you and your business. How many people or resources you are going to dedicate to this marketing strategy might help you answer this question. Start out small and you can always add more later on.

When you have signed up for each social media site that you have planned to, you are ready to place links on your own website. When clients or visitors see that you are also on the same social network as them, they will want to add you.

You may have come across websites that are useful to you in the past, but then you forget about them. If you added that site as your friend on one of these sites, you could receive reminders and news about what’s new.

When you update your social media site each day you can tell your followers and friends whatever you want. Remind your friends and followers why they added you to their friend list. Maybe they really liked your product and can’t wait till you come out with the next new one. Don’t be out of site and out of mind.

Groups and Discussions are also great tools on social media websites. Feedback is always a great way to improve your operation and sales. You can interact with your friends or fan base to find out what they really want. What do they want more or and less of at the same time? This is also a great way to build relationships and rapport.

Advertising on the social media sites is also a great way to reach a lot of people. Ads will cost money though and if you don’t have it, you better stick to the ideas we gave you today. Once you find the initial social media strategy for your business, you can always expand upon it later on.

Explanation Of The Impact Of Social Bookmarking On The Internet

December 9th, 2009
Comments Off

The impact of social bookmarking is being felt across the world of the Internet. When people talk about the influence of social bookmarking on both the private sector and the business sector, they often talk about Web 2.0. This is an entirely new way of looking at how the information used on the web is manipulated, exchanged, and used.

Social bookmarking impacts all communication and information that takes place on the Internet in some ways. People pulling information from a search engine director will often bookmark items of interest in one of the public folders on their social network.

Many people are attaching links and RSS feeds to their websites and blogs so that they can alert their readers to new information on a regular basis through their social networking site. The bookmarks may be spread across all of the social networking sites via the people accessing them.

Social bookmarking is susceptible to spamming and hacking. All of the social media sites continuously upgrade their security to block spammed messages from businesses being attempting to be bookmarked on their sites. However, this is a continual race.

There are some very good ways to use social networks and social bookmarking specifically, to increase one’s business. However, it is important to note that if a business attempts spam advertising, or has poor and uninformative content, when a person blocks their URL, they are effectively blocked from every device that that customer has. This can be very expensive for a business.

Unlike search engine directories, there is no standard language protocol for directory search with social bookmarking. A person may write a quality article about roll-top desks that will be bookmarked as roll-tops. If they are marketing their desk website, they will not be found when a person does a search for desks. The search parameters are established by the users who create a keyword by tagging or bookmarking a topic or subject several times.

As the standard search language evolves into the language of bookmarking, the structured use of key words will change. A networking site organizes files, or directories, by the tags that information gets, not by the “key word rich” article that has been written. If the keyword is too long, one will have to figure out what that word would naturally be cut down to when it is shortened to a tag.

This makes it very important for social network optimization tools to be employed properly and not as one would use SEO for the Internet. Eventually these two methods of searching will come together through Web 2.0. This is the evolutionary next step for internet use in which the users are in control of websites, information, and data links rather than a few people who manage directories, websites, and other information channels. When this happens, there will be dramatic changes to how SEO is successfully utilized both on the Internet and on social networks.
